A message from our Interim Moderator
I am happy to announce that the Presbytery of Westminster approved the call to the Rev. Heinrich Botha at the meeting last night. Heinrich accepted the call, with both humility and appreciation.
We expect that Heinrich will begin his ministry at WVPC on February 1, and are hoping that the formal service of induction will be held on Sunday March 11, in the afternoon. The date is still to be confirmed.
In the meantime, I encourage you all to pray for Heinrich, and for your church, as you prepare to welcome your new minister. As well, please give thanks to God for the guidance of the Holy Spirit throughout this process.
P.S. – Not including our representative elder, Neil Abramson, and myself, there was a delegation of 14 WVPCers in attendance, all sitting in a block. Allen Aicken was also there, sitting just behind us, in the back row, feeling proud and happy given where WVPC is now as a church.
The Christmas 2017 edition of The Compass is ready for pickup in the narthex. If you know of someone, who is unable to attend church regularly, consider bringing a copy. There are extra copies for visitors.
Thank you to those who contributed—submissions are always welcome.
On behalf of Session and our Interim Moderator, the Rev. Dr. Glen Davis, we’re pleased to announce that the following people have agreed to serve on the Search Committee to seek a new minister:
- Bob Wyber
- Ian Scott
- Joan Grant
- Gordon Munro
- Lynne Boucher
- Cathy Sosnowsky
- Shirley Pearson
- Heather Dunn
The Committee, under the guidance of Glen Davis, will meet for the first time on Sunday, April 23, 2017, following coffee.
Among the Committee’s initial tasks will be to select a convenor and to compile a church profile. The results of the congregational questionnaire along with the two Saturday discussion groups will provide excellent information in terms of our profile and the kind of minister we are seeking. Please support this group in prayer.
The current edition of the Presbyterian Connection “newspaper” is available for pick up in the narthex. Please feel free to take one and see what is happening in the PCC across the country.
